Wildflour Cafe + Bakery

Twice tried and twice failed. All because each time we went to Wildflour Cafe + Bakery, we arrived past the closing hour of 4 PM, at least on Sundays. It closes late though (around 10 PM) on weekdays.

On our third try we made sure we'll make it. We kinda rushed our early Sunday morning workouts and headed for Wildflour straight from the gym. And so we finally made it to Net Lima Building, across the mini cooper store, which hosts Wildflour in Bonifacio Global City (BGC) sans any reservation. But as a rule, it's best to reserve.

We asked for the best sellers. Marrow pot pie was among those mentioned and that was what we ordered. It can be good for two if one eats sparingly but for a heavy eater, it's not meant for sharing.

Left: my own helping of the marrow pot pie; Right: see the marrow?

For dessert, we had warm date cake. That's what the waiter said although when we got hold of the receipt after we paid, the printed name was sticky date pudding. That said, we can probably infer that it refers to one and the same dessert.

BEFORE (the warm date cake a.k.a. sticky date pudding)

 AFTER

The warm date cake a.k.a sticky date pudding takes 20 minutes to prepare, so, while waiting we had parmesan churros con chocolate.

While the marrow pot pie, is so, so good, it comes with a price and it doesn't come cheap. But it's worthy. We don't mind doing a repeat visit just for that.

There are other best sellers; some are off the menu. It always helps to ask about them.

Before giving up our seats, a mother-daughter tandem came in and sat beside our table. The mom said to her teenage daughter, "let's order something special . . . let's have french toast." Oh, ok, I thought I missed out on something really special. Haha.

Thanks.
